Ringo Starr reportedly told a fan to "F**k off." The former Beatles drummer was taken by surprise when a devotee approached him after he had collected a Diamond award on behalf of the band at the World Music Awards in Monaco on Sunday and began shouting at the shocked female admirer.

A source said: "A middle-aged woman ran over and threw her arms around him, almost knocking him over."

"Ringo was a bit shocked, he just wanted to get away. After he shouted at her, he said, 'Get off me. F**k off.' She looked absolutely stunned, but he just walked away."

The musician then reportedly took his anger out on a camera crew who were waiting to interview him.

The source added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "He shouted, 'Get away from me. I'm not doing that now. I'm not doing interviews.'"

Ringo caused controversy recently after posting a video message on his website announcing he would no longer sign autographs.

The 68-year-old appeared in the clip saying: "This is a serious message to everyone watching my update. Peace and love. Peace and love."

"I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October."

"If that is the date on the envelope, it's going to be tossed. I'm warning you with peace and love. I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing. Anyway, peace and love, peace and love."

He definitely seems to have something on his mind. Maybe he wants to retire as an ex-Beatle and as suddenly very resentful that he can't. I really feel for that poor lady. I've never heard of Ringo doing anything like this before, its like a personality change. I really hope his health is okay.

Over there. There's a big pile of them.
(while eating the whole lot) Oh ma-an.
Well, what a nice fellow.

For crying out loud ringo! I keep trying to forgive you but you just keep digging yourself deeper into the hole. The jonathon ross interview made you look like a cash hungry pig who was just selling a liverpool record for the money, the no more fan mail video made you look like an arrogant spoiled diva, the subsequent retraction of that video without a word of apology made you look weak, and now this where you just swear at a member of the public who was probably just living out her childhood dream!

Reporter: Did you have a chance to get away from each other on your trip to the USA?
George: Yeah.
Ringo: He got away from me - twice!

Reporter: Do you enjoy press conferences?
John: Yes, depending on the intelligence of the questions.

Reporter: What do you think you've contributed to the musical field?
Ringo: Records.

sorry I didn't see this thread before.

maybe he's nervous about something? Maybe a fan seriously threatened his life and he's scared. I don't know.

Maybe it's as simple as Ringo losing his sense of humour :( . Hope he gets it back soon.

Very disappointing. Sure, respect his privacy, but if he wants respect it has to be mutual. As far as I´m concerned he can stick his ´peace and love´-lines up his behind!
